An online training session is being offered for parents and carers of young people living with type 1 diabetes to encourage more exercise.

A statement from EXTOD said: “Regular activity is a great part of children’s lives but comes with added challenges for children with type 1 diabetes around managing glucose levels.

“At our online course with experienced speakers you can pose your questions to the experts, take part in useful discussions and benefit from practical group learning.

“This unique forum is created to equip you with the knowledge and experience to support the young person with type 1 diabetes in your care with exercise.”

On the course you will:

  • receive guidance on glucose control through diet, exercise and insulin changes
  • develop your understanding of continuous glucose monitors, the pump or closed loop your child uses
  • have the opportunity to network with fellow parents and carers to share your challenges and solutions
  • leave the day confident in your ability to support your child to safely undertake exercise

Booking can be made via the Diabetes NNF website, by calling 01732 897788, or emailing bookings@sbk-healthcare.co.uk
